We're back!
We’re back from Mexico!
From the 21st of January until the 29th, we closed Market House as we embarked on our second mission to Valladolid in the Yucatan region of Mexico. In June of 2014, we stayed at Casa Hamaca Guesthouse and spent our visit supplying groceries, toiletries, and other necessities to about five poverty-stricken families in a nearby village. Inspired by the empowering feeling of helping others during this earlier visit, our winter venture ended up being a bigger success than we ever could have dreamed!
Thanks to the donations and support of family, friends, patrons, and vendors, we were able to provide a whopping amount of thirty families (some of which have as many as fifteen members!) with food, blankets, toys, and other supplies that they normally can’t afford. We spent our days handing out these provisions to some of the most grateful and happy people, and were absolutely moved by how much something as little as a coloring book may mean to a child, or how much a blanket may be able to help an elderly woman. We were even able to find a wheelchair to donate to a young girl who typically never leaves the house because of her inability to walk. Every moment of the trip was completely inspiring, and it felt indescribably amazing to be able to aid so many people.
Now that we’re back, we’re looking to launch a Market House Mission and continue our efforts in this community with the help of our own. See our new “Mission” tab for details on helping us make a change through donations, purchases at the store, and even future trips!
